Newsletter 30.01.15.

Dear Parents,

Another end to a busy week.  Here is what we have been up to:

-The children loved exploring the effect of different amounts of sand and water on our giant water wheel in the sand pit in the Fundino playground.  The children had to think about answers to some very tricky questions!

-On Wednesday, whilst F3-Y6 enjoyed their sports Day at AP1, F2 enjoyed all the extra space at TX! The children had the opportunity to play in the big playground for longer than usual on the bikes and trikes as well as have a spin on the Supernova.  Later in the morning, we went up to the gym and played some games.

-We have been reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk' this week and acting out the story in the puppet theatre.  This book is available in the library if you would like to borrow it.

-The children rolled playdough to make the shapes for the letters in their names.

-We completed our 'Sharks in the Park' display this week.  Please come and have a peak!

-For the next two weeks we will be focusing on preparations for our Tet performance.  We will be turning our role play area into a Tet market area.

Our apologies for only including a few photos this week.  There has been a problem uploading them.

The Splash Pool

Dear Parents,

Ms Grace and I have been concerned about the number of children not joining us in the splash pool due to a runny nose or small cough.  As you know, joining in with the splash pool is part of our curriculum.  Please see below:

-Children should be joining in regularly with our splash pool twice a week.

-The water only goes up to the children's waists and there is no formal swimming instruction.

-If you child is too sick to attend our splash pool sessions, they should remain at home. If a doctor's note is provided, it needs to include the period of time your child will not be in the splash pool.

-Visiting the splash pool regularly in F2 is important preparation for the big pool in F3. Apart from that, all the children love being in the pool!

-If you are concerned about your child staying warm, may we suggest a big towel to wrap up in afterwards.  Lots of parents have also bought rash guards and thermal (thicker) swim suits.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Ms Gurvinder and Ms Grace

Newsletter 23.01.2015

Dear Parents,

It is always great to see children engaging in activities at school. This week is no different seeing them discover and enjoy the things we have set up for them and activities they have explored themselves.

We have also took part in the Teddy Bears Picnic at BVIS last Thursday and met nice and active girls and boys from across EYFS. It was indeed fun exploring the field with lots of different activities like parachute, football, balancing beams and construction resources. Children have had the opportunity to play in the soft play room as well. The 3 bears went and greeted the children as they played around the areas.

We have been reading the following stories with the children this week.

*Shark in the Park
* Duck in the Truck
* Hansel and Gretel
* Jack and the Beanstalk
* Oliver's Milkshake

David making prints using the toy car.
Khang Minh made his own telescope based on the story Shark in the Park.
Blake created a butterfly using modelling clay and checked how it would look like on a mirror.
Hai Nhi bravely showed us what she found in the garden, a SNAIL!!
Children helped Ms Grace plant rice seeds for the Fundino garden.
The newly enhanced Reading Area.
An exciting discovery happening in the tuff spot: rice, paper clips and magnets.

WE 16.01.15.

Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  The week has flown by!  We have enjoyed looking at the children's holiday photos that you sent us and they have really enthused the children to share their experiences.  Thank you for the photos.  There is still time to send them in if you haven't done so already.

The children have been sharing lots of different stories this week, including 'Titch', 'The Ants go Marching', 'Hansel and Gretel' and 'Five Little Monkeys'.  Their favourite one though has been 'Shark in the Park' by Nick Sharratt, so we will be focusing a little more on this one next week.

The weather has definitely been cooler since we got back and some of you have expressed concerns about the pool being cold.  Please be assured that we observe the children carefully in the pool and if they are shivering, they come out of the pool earlier.  If you are concerned, we would like to suggest your child wears a rash guard with long sleeves and that you also provide a big towel so we can wrap your child up after coming out of the pool.

Teddy Bears Picnic at BVIS

Wednesday 14th January 2014

EYFS Teddy Bears Picnic at BVIS

Dear Parents,

On Thursday 22nd January, the EYFS children will be travelling to BVIS to join in with a Teddy Bears Picnic.  The event will be fully supervised by EYFS teachers and TAs.  We will be leaving TX at 8 am and return by 11.30 am.  Please see below for further information about the event:

°         All children should arrive at school at 7.55 am and go straight to the classrooms to register.  If your child arrives late and the buses have gone, you will need to make your own way to BVIS.

°         Children should wear their uniform as usual and should come to school with hats and water bottles.

°         Snack will be provided at BVIS.

°         Each class will take a teddy bear to the event so there is no need to bring one in from home.

Please see your child’s class teacher should you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Ms Gurvinder
