Dear Parents,
Weather is getting hotter these days so we encourage the parents to apply sunscreen/sunblock to your children prior to going to school during Tuesday and Thursday. This is to ensure that your children are protected from the harmful sun. You may also choose to let them wear a rash guard and a swimming hat.

Newsletter 27.03.2015
Dear Parents,
It has been a packed week of fun and learning in class this week. We have started our week with a baking activity with Ms Grace where we made oatmeal cookies. We talked about the tools and the ingredients we used and the children had turns in mixing, whisking, pouring and scooping cookie dough.
We have also been focusing on being 'Respectful' at school and Rory the Respectful Lion has been on the lookout for children who have been doing the following:
* I can wait for my turn to speak,
* I can use gentle hands with my friends.
* I can talk with my soft voice to my friends.
* I can look after the classroom equipment.
All the teachers together with Rory the Respectful Lion are very pleased that 4 children have been chosen this week as being Respectful. Well done to Hai Nhi, Emily, Xavier and The Anh!
Children have also been growing mung beans in the classroom and they have also reading the Jasper and the Beanstalk. They have been very good at looking after their plants and ensuring that they are watered everyday.
We have started taking part in the role play area this week which now has been turned into a Travel Agency. May we ask if you could upload in your children's blogs or email us photos of your favourite holiday.
Below is the recipe for Oatmeal Cookies:

This week has been so much fun for everyone! On Tuesday, we had our lovely visitors from ARC once again and this time, they brought a real dog and two cats for the children to meet. They were all so excited and they also impressed our visitors with their sensible behaviour in the Multi-Purpose Room. Our visitors from ARC shared to us how to take care of our pets and how important it is to give our pets healthy food, water, exercise, and tender loving care. Some children were also given a chance to touch the dog and the cats and also to listen to their heartbeat using the stethoscope.
On Wednesday, we made flapjacks for our cooking activity. With support, the children measured the ingredients using a measuring jug and they also poured the ingredients into the bowl. The most fun part for them was mixing the ingredients as they truly enjoyed the delicious smell of the mixture they had made. During this activity, most of them used the words 'yummy', 'soft', and 'sticky'.
Our Art & Design table was also busy this week. The children created 4 lovely paintings to be displayed in the Fundino Playground. They painted circles and squares on the painting canvas using paintbrush and paper plates.
The children also enjoyed other new activities this week. We had Numicon and different games on the Maths table. The children have been practising counting and number recognition with the Numicon and by playing games like 'Lucky Ducky' and Number Lotto.
The messy tray was also filled with slime and 'moon sand' which the children enjoyed.
We are extremely pleased that all of our children explore our play spaces with great confidence! It has been a week of fun and learning!

The children also had a go at playing with the skittles in the main playground. Using body control and coordination, they tried their best to roll the ball towards the skittles.

Term 3
Dear Parents,
I will be leaving at the end of Term 2 to go on maternity leave. Ms Clarissa will be covering me in my absence until the end of term 3. Ms Clarissa is a fully qualified teacher from the Philippines and has been through our rigorous teacher training program here at BIS. Some of you might remember Ms Clarissa from F1 last year. She is very excited to be working here at TX again and we are very pleased to have her back!
In order to facilitate a smooth transition, Ms Clarissa will be joining us for the remainder of term 2 so she can get to know our F2 unit and all our wonderful children. I am certain that Ms Clarissa will make a great addition to our team in F2.
In the meanwhile, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and speak to me.
Kind Regards,
Ms Gurvinder
