Newsletter 28.11.14

Dear Parents,

This week we continued on talking about more countries that the children in F2 are from. We started with Vietnam as Ms Thuy taught them how to make fresh spring rolls. The children laid prawn, prok and noodles on the rice paper and rolled it carefully. On the other hand, Hai Nhi's mum talked about the 'lotus' flower and Emily's mum taught as a Vietnamese song and dance.

Last Tuesday, Caleb's mum showed as an interesting presentation about Malaysia and a Malaysian kite called 'Wau'.

Children in F2 took part in a Japanese 'Sumo' wrestling last Wednesday. They even wore a 'sumo' wrestling costume and tried their might to 'wrestle' with one another. It was good fun!

Eason's mum shared us some interesting resources from Australia that included a book about different animals from the land down under. Children also tasted 'TimTam' an Australian favourite!

It was indeed a busy week for everybody and all of us learnt so much from all the countries that we looked at for the past two weeks. Thank you to everybody who came and shared their time with us. We all enjoyed the activities you did.

May we remind everybody about the EYFS Family Morning that will take place tomorrow from 8.30-10.30 am at TX Campus. We hope to see you tomorrow.

Thank you and have a lovely weekend.

Regards,
Ms Grace and F2 Team

Newsletter 14.11.2014

Dear Parents,

This week children in F2 continued on exploring different activities about Space. Although, we have taken down our Space role play area, children were treated to some other activities such as aliens art and craft,  moon sand in the tuff spot and counting body parts of an alien in the Maths area.

Outside, children have tried climbing the 'Dome' and they have been showing good skill in doing this activity. Some of them were able to climb with ease and some needed support so we will continue doing this activity to develop all the children's climbing skill.

Next week, the whole school will take part in a 3-day International Celebration. F2 on the other hand will extend this activity to 2 weeks to ensure that children will get good understanding of each nationality representing the children in class. Please see the previous blog post about the timetable for the next 2 weeks in class.

On Wednesday 19th November, all children will participate in an International Fair and Buffet. Children will get to take part in different games and arts and crafts activities from different countries. Parents may buy tokens for their children from Ms Oanh in the office.

On Friday 21st November, all children should come to school wearing their countries traditional costumes. We will take part in the Flag Parade in the hall with the rest of the school. Please make sure that you come to school in time. The parade will start at 8am and parenrs are encouraged to come and watch.

Should you have any questions please feel free to come and speak to us.

Have a lovely weekend.

Regards,
Ms Grace and F2 Team

Newsletter WE 7th November

Dear Parents,

There has been a lot going on in F2 this week!  Please see below:

-This was our last week focusing on the story 'Whatever Next!' By Jill Murphy.  Our group activities included acting out the story, drawing our favourite pictures from the story and and putting the main events in order.  We finished our week with a picnic on the 'Moon'.  We ate and drank the same things as Baby Bear and Owl: honey sandwiches, apples, biscuits and orange juice.  We listened to Space music as we enjoyed our picnic.  We finished the morning by watching the 'Whatever Next' animation.  If you do a Google search for the story, you can watch it at home. Next week, we will be reading 'Meg on the Moon' by Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski.

-The children continued exploring our Space role play by dressing up as a rocket and also as astronauts.  We will continue with this role play area next week.  The children have been busy making paper mache planets with Ms Claudine to make our Space role play area even more fantastic!

-There are 2 Space apps we have been using on the iPads this week: 'Space Journey' and 'Space Journey'.  Both are free if you would like to try them at home.

-The children have been extending their physical skills by playing on an obstacle course in the foyer.  They practised crawling, jumping, hopping and rolling.

-We have been reading a story called 'Mr Tongue' with the class. This is a simple story that focuses on the children's articulation skills and helps the children to make sounds accurately.

-Eason and Seven will be taking home the 'All About Me' bags this weekend.  Please remember that we love to see what the children have been up to on the weekends.  Please do upload their photos onto blogs over the weekend.

Notices
-Interim reports will go home on Friday 14th November.
-TX will be holding our annual 'International Celebration' week beginning 17th November.  More information to follow.

Please see below for photos.  Thanks for your continuing support.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind Regards,

Gurvinder and the F2 team.
