The children have continued settling in this week and experiencing a wider range of EYFS activities and areas. Although there have been some tears, the staggered start has meant these have been minimal. We have 10 new children in F2, who have joined the F1 children that moved up from last year.
This week, we have used our 'Hello' song to say hello in different languages to reflect our children's home countries. This includes Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, India, Australia and The USA. This will help raise the children's awareness of where they live and where they are from.
This week, the children used the splash pool in F2 for the first time. Most children were very eager to get in and have fun! The children also began to join in with Music with Mr Robbie and had great fun. Their favourite activity was listening to Mr Robbie beating the drum and the copying the beat by clapping their hands. Next week, we will be starting our library sessions. Every child will get a book to take home to share with their families on either Tuesday or Wednesdays. Please ensure the books are returned by Monday the following week. There will be a basket inside the classroom to put them in.
This week, our main books focus during story time was 'There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly' and 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you Hear?' In the book area, the children have chosen to read 'The Elephant and the Bad Baby' and 'George Catches a Cold' from the Peppa Pig book series.
Next week, we shall be focusing on numbers stories. We will also be busy constructing our building site in the role play area and making Moon Festival lanterns for our upcoming EYFS Moon Festival celebrations. We hope you can join us on Thursday 11th September 8-9 am. Please see below for details, as well as photos from this week's activities.
Today, Caleb and Carrie went home with a special 'All about me' bag. We will be choosing two children a week to take home a bag. We would like to ask you to fill the bag with experiences and activities your children have been involved in over the weekend. This might be a book they read, a drawing or painting, a special toy they played with, photos or even a leaflet or menu of a place they visited or ate in. We are asking for a maximum of 5 objects. We will then support that child to share the bag and objects with their friends on Monday.
Also, please note a small change to our morning routine. Please can your child's hat be placed in the basket outside the F2 classroom before they come in.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Kind Regards,
Ms Gurvinder and the F2 team
